By the grace of God we had an extraordinary Holy Week and Resurrection Feast, here in St. Mark’s Church in Lusaka. The theme for the week was based on Isaiah 43:19, “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” With a beautiful meditation on the Coptic hymn, Pekethronos, our father explained that God’s marvelous work in our lives happens when we take the time to enter and dwell in His throne room. Truly, by the end of the week each congregation member felt that God had done a new thing in him or her!

Throughout the week we took the opportunity to disciple many of the youth boys and girls. They stayed in the church, and between Pascha services they took time to distribute clothes and food to those in need, and spent much time in prayer and meditation. By the end of the week, on Resurrection Eve, we were blessed to welcome nine new members into our church family! Following the baptisms, we held the evening liturgical service. It was truly full of God’s spirit, and the joy of His resurrection was felt through the powerful worship. The congregation was so full of joy that even after the service was over, people continued singing and praising outside. We ended the night by distributing food to all who attended, and the following day had an Easter party and gifts for all ages. Thank God for His blessings in this glorious week!
