Another successful re-implantation surgery at Coptic Hospital headed by Dr. Ferdinand Nangole, Dr. Michael Alfonse and team.
A 27-year-old policeman presented with a 24-hour history of having been cut by thugs while patrolling in Western Kenya. He was otherwise well and in good general condition. The next of kin consulted Dr. Nang’ole who advised them to bring the patient to Coptic hospital for possible re-implantation surgery.
The patient was flown in for surgery and arrived exactly 24 hours after the incident. The cut arm had been stored at the Mbale hospital blood fridge. On examination of the patient upon arrival at Coptic Hospital, he was found to be in good general condition with all systems being normal.
The operating team consisted of the Plastic surgery team lead by Dr. Nangole and the Orthopaedic team led by Dr. Alfonse .
Post operatively patient did well and he is scheduled for repair of the tendons after four weeks.
We wish him quick recovery!
