Coptic People of Africa in Great Need

In this time where God in His mercy is blessing our mission and while Africa and our children are facing great threats of sickness, poverty and even death; the Coptic Mission is striving with donors to save the lives of thousands of people. We know this mission is in the hands of God and we know by all your prayers the mission can help in these challenges.

Currently we face a specific challenge and crisis of losing the only available land property which can assist in building facilities to fight against the great needs of the African people. This land with a new center can save the lives of many people. Below you can see some of challenges we face if we don’t get this land.

v                 The great work of the Hope Center which is currently serving 15,000 people and there are thousands more facing death from HIV/AIDS who are waiting outside the center gate looking for the gift of life through the comprehensive medical care of the Hope Center and the center is unable to serve them for lack of space.

v                  And what made the issue more urgent is the pediatric HIV Center which is saving the lives of 1000 children and there are 5000 more children waiting for a place in the center, but we have no place for them.

v                 The great successful medical work of the Coptic Hospital is serving the poorest of Africa in the Kibera slum area including many orphans through free charity programs. Without this new land and facilities we will be limited in helping the increased demand of sickness and poverty in Africa.

v                 The overcrowded Nairobi church where many new believers are added to the church daily are unable to accommodate them and also the services are cancelled or delayed every week for the lack of space.

v                 Lack of training centers to equip church leaders and medical workers through the rich experience of the Coptic Mission in the spiritual and medical field and again the problem is the space.

The New land and facilities are a necessity if we are honestly looking for saving and serving more people especially the vulnerable group of children and woman who are affected or infected with HIV/AIDS with the expansion of poverty in Africa. You can see very clearly that we need your prayers and we need your help. Please take the time to pray and see how you can assist in this great need for these precious children of the Lord. These are our brothers and sisters and God is calling us to help them today.

Latest Details of the Land Crisis:

The Coptic Mission put a down payment on this land discussed above and God’s mission to save His people was on the right track. All of a sudden something unexpected happened: the owners of the land decided to sell the land to another buyer at a higher price. We prayed and even took the matter to court and now we are faced with a tough decision.

Do we match the higher buyer and get the land back so we can help in saving the African people according to our call in the mission? Now the challenge is where do we get the extra money needed to compete with the other buyer, which is about $300,000.

We need your prayer in this time of crises and fight of the devil.

Please pray with us and please provide any financial help you can.

New Services in Nigeria

It is apparent that God Almighty in His grace desires to do great things in Africa from the reports and observations coming from Tanzania, Nigeria and Kenya.  At the same time, the mission has also experience frequent attacks from the devil as the work of our Lord is expanding.

Nigeria's Blessed Services

Currently performing a great service in Nigeria is Father Jacoub from Kenya.  This past weekend was truly blessed.  On Saturday, December 19th, a Spiritual Day was held for servants regarding a servant's character, duties, and discipleship.  The following Sunday, 120 people were baptized to the Lord.  Father Jacoub is presently serving in 4 churches:

1.         St. Mark, Lagos - There are now Copts living on the premises.  Father Jacoub visits once per month for Bible Study and to pray the Divine Liturgy.

2.         St George, Calabar City - Serves the Copts and Africans living within the city itself.  Bible study meetings and Liturgies are performed during the weekdays.
 3.         St Mary, Akansco - Serves the Africans residing in rural areas.  The following services are held:
Sunday - Liturgies and meetings from 9-12 PM.          Tuesday - Bible study from 4-5 PM.          Thursday - Fasting and prayers from 8 AM - 12 PM.
4.         St Mark, Ikot Asuquo Edem - The following services are held:

Tuesday - Bible study from 4-5 PM.

Wednesday - Catechumen Class from 4-5 PM.

Friday - Fasting and Divine Liturgy

We give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ as He brings more Nigerians everyday to the Coptic Church.  We are overjoyed that they are attracted to our faith, doctrines, sacraments and spirituality.  We pray for Father Jacoub, Deacon Mena, his helper, and the Nigerian Church.

The missionaries are coming but are you ready for the MISSION?

Surprise of the Mission…!

“Look among the nations and watch – be utterly astounded!
for I will work a work in your days
Which you would not believe, though it were told you.” Habbakuk 1:5
Stay tuned and keep on praying for God is keeping for you great surprises
for your life this summer.
Remember that difficulties, problems and hardships around you will never end or change. We are told that as Christians we will face many tribulations in this world. The lion will continue to roar and shout fearfully and loudly, yet you should be confident that you will be victorious over him, since you are already in Christ more than a conqueror in the battle.

When a church is in need…God answers

The Coptic Mission took the opportunity to answer God’s call and serve our Coptic brothers and sisters in Tala.  Harvesting season this year yielded the worst crop the locals have seen in years.  The drought has left many families from our 4 thriving churches in Tala without food.
