Job Title:  Social Protection Officer

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Programs Coordinator, the Program Officer, Social Protection, will be responsible for providing technical guidance and coordination of social protection interventions on the DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe) project in Siaya County. The Program Officer, Social Protection, will provide technical assistance in evidence-based social protection interventions proven successful in reducing HIV risk behaviours, HIV transmission, and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence amongst adolescent girls and young women.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide Social Protection (SP) technical assistance (TA) through trainings, mentorship and support to staff and lay workers supporting the project. The Program Officer, Social Protection, will focus on areas such as social asset building, economic empowerment, school re-integration and post violence care.
  2. Work to build the Social Protection capacity of affiliated partner organizations and groups such as local school faculty, civil society organizations (CSO), community-based organizations (CBO), local government entities and engaged lay workers.
  3. Coordinate SP capacity building and mentorship programs alongside DREAMS program and technical coordinators.
  4. Conduct site-level support supervision and mentorship to ensure SP interventions are being implemented according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in a quality manner.
  5. Coordinate all Evidence Based Interventions within the DREAMS program
  6. Collate Education Subsidy and entrepreneurship complaints, and, in consultation with project leadership, determine remedial measures.
  7. Support in overseeing program Social Protection monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities to measure progress and to systematically assess whether intended objectives are being achieved.
  8. Support in the guidance of documentation while ensuring data is properly captured and reported per donor intervention and donor guidance.
  9. Work alongside DREAMS staff and partners to develop and maintain program workplans, making changes and updates as appropriate.
  10. Liaise with stakeholders including the County Government, Ministry of Education and Children’s Department as directed and appropriate.
  11. Assist in the development, editing, finalization, and packaging of program curriculum, reports and materials while documenting challenges, best practices and success stories.
  12. Serve as an information source on program policies, procedures, and administration guidelines on Social Protection.
  13. Keep abreast and updated on the trends and developments in strengthening social protection programming, thinking and directions in Kenya
  14. Facilitate accurate documentation and collation of data
  15. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

 

 

      MINIMUM REQUIRED QULIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or other relevant advanced diploma with requisite experience and any other relevant field.
  2. At least 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable young populations in need of protection;
  3. Experience working with extremely vulnerable individuals and SGBV Survivors in particular, is an asset
  4. Good IT knowledge (Microsoft Office, Excel, Power point, Internet);
  5. Previous experience with the children’s department or another child protection organization is desirable
  6. Knowledge of protection system in Kenya and safety nets programs.
  7. Required qualities: proactive, autonomous, rigorous, organized, good communication, negotiation skills, diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
  8. Knowledge of Quality Improvement, TVET, Street Children Programing SGBV and RH/FP; and the workings
  9. Training of Trainers skills essential for this position.
  10. Experience working with county, Education, Children’s Department, health structures (CHMT, S/CHMT,Health facilities etc);
  11. Knowledge of community mobilization and referral linkages;
  12. Professional conduct that reflects proper behavior in accordance with local culture and tradition.
  13. Ensure the moral protection of the name of Coptic Hope Centre and defend in all circumstance
  14. He/she will conduct his or her duties in respect of Coptic Hope Centre and the Child Protection Policy.

Job Title: Economic Empowerment Project Officer

JOB SUMMARY

With guidance and support from the DREAMS Project Coordinator; The Economic Empowerment Project Officer will provide direct implementation of Economic Empowerment activities targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women and the community. S/he will advise and support the DREAMS Coordinator in implementation oversight including working hand in hand with the field-based staff, and Mentors through targeted support and in ensuring the quality of processes and results of all program activities and related reporting requirements.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Support in planning and direct implementation of Economic Empowerment activities as directed by DREAMS Coordinator
  2. Offer Capacity building of mentors and field staff on Economic Empowerment activities
  3. Community sensitization on combination socio-economic approaches
  4. Training of staff and mentors on Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy
  5. Oversee the Implementation of Economic Strengthening activities at the safe spaces
  6. Support Supervision on Economic strengthening activities within safe spaces
  7. Develop monthly work plans for Economic Strengthening Activities across safe spaces
  8. Ensure timely implementation of planed activities in accordance with targets stipulated
  9. Develop SOPs for planned Economic strengthening activity implementation
  10. Link AGYW to micro financial institution, banking institutions and credit and loaning facilities for entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs
  11. Ensuring young women are reached with start-up business and overseeing the progress of initiated small business by young women
  12. Documenting best practices and success stories in the implementation of economic strengthening
  13. Ensuring set targets are achieved within stipulated time frames
  14. Conducting continuous follow up and supervision to ascertain quality service delivery in all safe spaces on Economic strengthening activities
  15. Work with line ministries, beneficiaries and other partners to prioritize needs in the areas of implementation
  16. Carrying out routine data quality improvement/assurance
  17. Facilitate accurate documentation and collation of data
  18. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

 

 

REQUIRED QULIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Community Development, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship.
  2. Three (3) years’ experience in a similar position or working with Economic sustainable programs, Microfinance programs, field of monitoring and evaluation in any field will be an added advantage
  3. Experience working with young people/youth programs desired.
  4. Excellent analytical, report writing skills and proven communication skills both written and spoken.
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Power point, Microsoft Excel, internet required, experience with data software is an added advantage.
  6. Experience with convening and facilitating trainings & workshops.
  7. Training of Trainers skills essential for this position.
  8. Experience working with county, Education, Children’s Department, Micro finance Institutions, and Youth programs.

Job Title:          Project Officer

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Prevention Manager the Project Officer (FO) will be the ward-level coordinator

of all interventions in the assigned ward(s) service delivery points on the DREAMS (Determined,

Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, mentored and Safe) project. As the ward-level coordinator, you will

work closely with all levels of the program staff, lay workers, and project partners and stakeholders within the assigned wards/county. The Field Officer will ensure all interventions are implemented per evidence-based guidance and reported per project and donor requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the implementation of the package of DREAMS interventions within the assigned wards per intervention guidance and directives
  2. Work closely with the Prevention Manager, Technical coordinators and Monitoring Evaluation

            (M&E) team to offer capacity building, mentorship and conduct supportive supervision and spot                 checks while overseeing performance of a team of lay workers supported under the program

  1. Provide overall oversight and supportive supervision of day to day program planning, budgeting, implementation and reporting achievements in consultation with the Prevention Manager and technical coordinators to ensure reaching intervention targets
  2. Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with County relevant GOK Ministries, CSO’s and other relevant local stakeholders within the areas of operation, as applicable
  3. Develop clear monthly work plans based on approved quarterly project work plans with clear objectives/deliverables based on targets
  4. Support in training, coaching and coordinating regular review meetings with intervention specific facilitators, Change Agents and Mentors while tracking progress against annual targets, and addressing issues raised in the field Working closely with the M&E team, provide oversight in data quality audits, daily update of services and prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly ward-level reports based on intervention gap analysis
  5. Submit the required weekly, monthly and quarterly reports per set timeframes and ensuring compliance to the M&E team and donor requirements with a focus on quality
  6. Participate in trainings, supervision visits, weekly and all project planning and review meetings while maintaining accurate reports to inform next steps
  7. Ensure that Coptic Mission is compliant with all PEPFAR/OGAC reporting requirements for the DREAMS project for MERS, DATIM, SIMS, special initiatives, etc.
  8. Liaise with the donor, key stakeholders and partners, and other implementing partners as needed
  9. Documentation of best practices, challenges and success stories
  10. Any other duties as applicable and required

                                     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Diploma in Social Work, Community Development or Counselling Psychology, a Degree in a relevant course from a reputable University will be an added advantage
  2. At least three years of progressive experience working in a comprehensive HIV or GBV prevention interventions among adolescents and OVC programing
  3. Experience working under the Kenya DREAMs project.
  4. Commitment to understanding and responding to the most urgent needs and rights of vulnerable adolescents and youth in regard to HIV/AIDS and SGBV.
  5. Familiarity with development, child protection, social and cultural issues.
  6. Experience with U.S. Government donor compliance and reporting.
  7. Ability to develop and maintain close relationships with various stakeholders. 8. Ability to work effectively with diverse coworkers and project participants.

Job: Title:                                                   Data Officer

JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                        

Reporting to the M&E officer, the data Officer will be responsible for electronic data entry, data cleaning, data verification and data presentation and adhere to highest standards of data quality and efficiency in turn-around.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Ensure that all final data is compliant with all DREAMS reporting requirements before entering it into the database and filing.
  2. Enter approved, correct DREAMS data into the DREAMS database per set timeframes to meet reporting requirements.
  3.  Regularly update DREAMS files and ensure all required documentation (enrollment forms, service update forms, verification forms, etc.) are completed as required before saving into the project files.
  4. Conduct basic data quality assessment (DQA) to check on the quality of data and edit accordingly as needed.
  5.  Conduct monthly verification of source documents.
  6. Ensure all beneficiary files are complete with all relevant documentation and ensure filing is done according to the SOPs.
  7.  Support the M&E team in SIMS and PEPFAR/OGAC site visit preparations by conducting DQA checks.
  8.  Provide feedback on data submission processes to ensure processes are streamlined and required information is being submitted per set timeframes.
  9.  Conduct regular reviews of program data to enable the team to identify whether targets are being met and take immediate corrective actions.
  10.  Execute data quality audits using DQA tools and ensure follow‐up is complete.
  11.  Verification and enrolment of beneficiaries into the DREAMS database .
  12. . Generating all reports as required and submission of the same to relevant authorities through the M&E office.
  13.  Analysing final data to give feedback to the M&E officer
  14.  Handling all primary data for structured storage and submitting to the M&E officer M& E officer
  15. . Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  1. Degree/Diploma in health records with IT, IT, community development or any other related field
  2. Previous experience in data entry, and preferably having worked with the DREAMS database will be an added advantage
